Aqua Teen Hunger Force shuts down Boston

Possibly the greatest news story of the year. On Jan 31st, several Lite-Brite toy style signs were discovered in Boston. They were placed as part of a marketing compaign for the Cartoon Network show Aqua Teen Hunger Force and its upcoming movie. The Boston Police apparently thought these were explosive devices and proceeded to shut down highways, bridges, subways and bus stations near the locations of the signs. Two were arrested. The head of Cartoon Network resigned, and Turner Broadcasting had to pay $2 million to the city of Boston.
The paranoid mindset and actions of a lot of people post 9/11 really disturbs me. You would think out of all of the people involved in this, someone would have said "It's a Lite-Brite! I had one of those when I was 5!". I guess Common Sense, something which supposedly helped form this country was no where to be found on this day. Unfortunatley, I must be reminded of this increasingly common phenomenon every time some assclown in a security uniform thieves my lighter from me before I board an aircraft.
While I don't agree with Turner Broadcasting having to shell out $2M to the City of Boston for this. I do find it ironic that a broadcasting company is being held financially responsible for the idiocy of the residents and leaders of Boston.
Additionally, If I was head of Cartoon Network, I wouldn't have resigned. I would have told them what they could do. (see left)
The whole incident is detailed here.
PS: first post! :P
